"If anything, what have we to lose?" Ruth finished the sentence with the first thing that came to mind. If they told Erik and Charles, they might start the horror, which was going to start eventually with or without them, or they might manage to stave off some of the worst of it by giving them a chance to put plans in place to forestall this from coming to what currently appeared an inevitable end.
With a slow breath, Ruth made herself settle mentally. Talking to Charles meant figuring out what exactly she intended to say. He had undoubtedly been touched by the nightmare, but did he truly see it as a vision of the future? Would she be confirming something he was already somewhat certain of, or fighting against his skepticism? Neither thought was actually all that pleasant, though the former would probably be easier to work with. Trying to open a closed mind had a tendency to give her a massive headache.
"Ah'll tell Charles. Erik's," she paused. Early on, she'd spent much more time with Erik than Charles, if only because she'd been a bit touchy about her personal secrets and one couldn't truly feel safe around another telepath if you were secretive. She'd moved past that at least some. "Erik will listen. Might not understand it all, but he'll listen."
Ruth had that much faith in the other man. He'd been willing to move on a moment's notice at her word. Surely he would be willing to admit there was a good possibility of this future coming to pass.
