They were quite the pair, Irene and Raven. Even now, Ruth could sort of see them together and how they managed to survive in this somewhat topsy turvy world. It was something to look up to really. Ruth would love to have someone like that in her life, but there was always tomorrow. Perhaps the man she was waiting for simply hadn't crossed her vision yet. It was possible. Ruth could, despite all the things she'd been exposed to, still hope.
The conversation would be filled with odd pauses where there were supposed to be words because the truth was the words were unnecessary between them. The future became the present for them all too quickly, allowing them to skip unnecessary bits of conversation and move on to the more important things like this new dream.
"Many had dat dream." Ruth stated, her lips quirking slightly in a frown. "Interesting's one way of puttin' it."
Under most circumstances, Ruth would be all too aware of her brain becoming far too large for her skull leading to a headache of epic proportions. Oddly, or perhaps expectedly, this meeting didn't bring about that feeling. There was no pain meeting with Irene. Small favors were too be taken as best they could.
"We stand ta lose too many and Ah ain't sure 'ow to stop this."
Since the dream, she'd seen other things. Jamie, whom she counted a friend, going down in a hail of fire had woken her with a hitching in her chest she couldn't make go away for the better part of an hour. "Ah'm scared, Irene."
