Who: Blindfold and Destiny What: Meeting in the present, creating the future When: 12:18 PM, January 14th Where: Uncommon Grounds
At precisely 12:11 in the afternoon, Destiny stepped into Uncommon Grounds, and by 12:14 she had settled herself quite comfortably in corner table with a cup of spiced apple cider. She had known for quite some time now that she needed to be in Uncommon Grounds eighteen minutes past noon on the fourteenth, seated in this exact spot in the corner table. She had decided to move things along a bit, arriving minutes before her companion would to secure what had already been their table for weeks. The only thing that had changed since this particular future had become clear was what Irene would order to drink. The variety of tastes she had to choose from these days in comparison to the past fifteen years was overwhelming.
When her expected cohort entered the establishment, Irene felt her inner sight fixate on the girl, waiting for her to settle before speaking. “I ordered your tea already.” Her blank face contrasted with the warm tone of her voice. There was no need to exaggerate expressions around each other since neither could see the other’s face, not really. It was refreshing, Destiny decided, as the barista appeared and set down the tea between them and turned away without a second glance. She had assumed that one friend had ordered the other tea; it never would have occurred to her that the two women were complete strangers, had never met before. Not in the present, anyway.
“I thought you might be late for a moment,” Irene told her with a hint of amusement in her voice. It helped keep the headaches to a minimum, having two precogs interacting to keep the timeline perfectly straight. “But we’re never late, are we?”
