Thanks to Cerebro, he had been able to pinpoint the origin of the earlier surge to Mutant Town. Nate had only one special friend that he knew of, certainly none other who worked in Mutant Town. Craven Park to be exact. Charles could see mental images of the park through the open connection with Jean. Oh, no, Harrison. Poor, dear Harrison. Your brother loved him very much. Xavier probably 'sounded' solemn in Jean's mind, and pain surely bled back through the connection. Harrison was the kind of young man who stood out for his good qualities and his huge heart. Xavier cared for all of his charges to an extent, but there were always a handful in every group that were dear to his heart. The unassuming shapeshifter had been one of them.
Charles did indeed have a pretty good idea of at least the flavor of the thoughts Jean was shielding. Normally, he couldn't have, but the Cerebro unit amplified his own mutant ability greatly, and helped focus it as if he'd had decades to hone it, and not just a couple of years. There was a short pause while Charles telepathically raised Logan and instructed him to take the Blackbird into the city for an emergency retrieval. The man grumbled back at him in his mind. Logan hated being spoken to mind to mind, but he was up and moving without question even as he protested the intrusion.
Jean, my dear. Listen to me. I am going to send the Blackbird to retrieve you. Nate will be all right. He will receive the best of care here, and we will make sure Harrison receives a proper burial. It will only be a few minutes, but I need you to please stay calm, and to shield everyone around you so they don't see the bodies or come near you until we arrive. Can you do that? Do you know how to do that?
