Who: Josh
What: Josh spends some time with Lotte
When: Christmas day, morning
Where: Lotte's grave
"Hey, lovely," Josh murmured brushing the snow off Lottie's tomb stone. The headstone wasn't fancy just her name, date of birth and death with a little inscription of 'Always Loved' beneath but it was all he really had of her so he tried to keep it meticulously maintained. "Merry Christmas."
He was kneeling in the snow heedless of the cold melted snow soaking his jeans or the cold air cutting through his parka or the snow that drifted down on top of him depositing more snow on Lotte's stone. Talking to Bryan the other day had helped a lot and had been greatly therapeutic but Lotte's gravestone still managed to widen the hole in Josh's heart where Lotte had once been. "I've been keeping busy. I'm helping a doctor - a real one - set up a clinic in Mutant Town at the Sisters of Charity not too far from...." He took a deep breath and soldiered on. "I take a different way to get there though. Professor Xavier is all for the clinic and to be honest I'm a little excited about it too. The doctor has been teaching me a bit about anatomy and things like that. She's been really patient so I've been learning a lot."
Reaching down, he fiddled with the bright red roses he'd brought and brushed the bit of snow that had fallen on her stone. "God, I miss you," he whispered, the tears he wanted to shed clenching his jaw tight and burning at the backs of his eyes. "I miss you so much, Lotte. I found out who killed you. It was Wildchild but you probably already knew that. I wanted to kill him when I found out, rip him to pieces but he'd been under some serious mind control. He'd only been a weapon for whoever killed you. I can't stand to look at him but I can't kill him either knowing that someone had been messing with his head like that. And I guess killing him wouldn't bring you back either."
He took another deep breath and kissed her stone. "I have to go. I'm spending a few hours at the clinic to keep myself occupied today and I promised to be there early. I just wanted to stop by and say merry Christmas. I love you, Lotte."
Half frozen and not even noticing it, Josh stood and walked back to his car. Time heals all wounds but would time heal his?
