The closeness and Logan's scent were comforting, almost like a security blanket. Even though she was rescued from that evil facility and had been back at the Haven for a few days now, she didn't truly feel safe until she was in her father's presence and that served to calm her a bit. Laura knew that what she had done back at the facility wasn't necessarily right, but she had to do it. She couldn't just stand idly by and let them subject her and others to torture without any consequences. Listening intently as he spoke about his deployment overseas, she realized just how little she knew about Logan. "There's nothing to be sorry about. I chose this for myself." And that was the truth. She chose to live at the Haven and she chose to be on the X-Men. If she hadn't, she wouldn't have been involved in any of this, and yet, she wasn't sure she'd ever take back the choices that led her to where she was now.
Laura studied Logan's face as he elaborated on what she was experiencing. Seemed he knew a lot about that as well. Physical scars were an impossibility for her because of the healing factor, but that didn't protect her from emotional scars. Every night when she closed her eyes, she was haunted by the memories of the torture she had endured at the hand of those cruel scientists. The procedures they had put her through were inhumane.. submersion underwater in a tank (which was surely meant to be some time of water torture) and so-called 'surgeries' without any anesthetics. She'd tell him all of this if he asked, even if she never wanted to speak of it again.
Then as his demeanor changed, so did the topic of conversation. It felt like it had been so long since she lost her mother, but in reality, Laura had only been on her own for about two years. The loneliness made it feel like a lifetime, but she refused to get close enough to form any real bonds with people. That is, until she arrived at the Haven. "I know," she replied quietly. "I don't want to be alone anymore. I'm tired of it." Laura looked down at her hands as she spoke now, feeling a bit uncomfortable though probably not as bad as Logan felt. "The fact that you wanna be there for me... that means a lot to me.. more than you know."
Even if he hadn't said it, she could tell just how difficult it was for him to express how he felt. All the anger that she felt towards him before she went away on the mission seemed to fade away at the moment, though that wasn't to say that she'd ever forget what he did. Her eyes moved back up to his face, staring at him quietly for a moment before she spoke again. "I want you to be my father," she admitted softly. And she sincerely meant it.
