That actually got Josh to smile a little. It was a small twist of his lips but in an upward motion instead of a downward one. His eyes remained dead and flat though. "I know about that all too well. I could hide it with make up but it looks fake and it sweats off anyway," he replied taking the tea ball out of the mug and laying it on a paper napkin.
He took a sip then sprinkled a dash of turbinado sugar into it. The first sip was the best. The hot water soothed his rough vocal cords and settled deep in his stomach. "I've always wanted to fly. There're a couple of people I live with who can and it never fails to make me envious."
Cocking his head, he looked over at the girl deciding he was a grateful for the surface chit chat to distract him from the hole in his chest. "Where are you from? I don't mean to be rude, but I noticed your accent."
