It was hardly surprising that it wasn't a good enough answer, but for now it was the only one she was going to get. He didn't have the time to explain about his team in the middle of this particular mess. Her name...well, it wasn't much of a name, but if she wanted to use that kind of designation he'd return it in kind. "Warpath." She may or may not have heard Logan mention that name a time or two, but if she had it would likely have been in a favorable light.
The shifting reactions in the girl were watched carefully, as he attempted to judge her truthfulness. Yes, he was giving her the benefit of the doubt but he'd be rather annoyed if she ran off on him after this. "Fair enough." They weren't really his team, but again, not the time and place for that discussion. They'd have enough time for such things later.
As they hit the door he'd slip that faceplate back on, and then have a quick conversation with the other man. Something along the lines of 'I really don't give a fuck what you think, she's coming with us'. And no one really wanted to argue, so the little group formed up once more and off they went. The tunnels ahead had mostly been cleared while he and Laura were talking, so there wasn't going to be a lot more fighting until they got topside, the only delays momentary pauses to place more explosives. Seems he hadn't been lying about that either. The scent of blood was likely quite strong, given all the bodies scattered about. Most wore the uniforms of the people who had run this place, but a few wore white labcoats of the scientists. They apparently had not been spared.
James either was keeping half an eye on her, or just trusted her to stick close because the group didn't slow down at all. Especially once they were up out of the underground facility, and then into the open. There were a lot more people up here, the vast majority of them men in gear like James'. Sporadic bursts of gunfire were still coming from some of the surrounding buildings, and occasionally a group would peel off to go take care of such a thing. Not theirs, though. The only time James and his people paused was long enough to mow down whomever was in front of them as they moved towards the group of vehicles. Not military, but armored black SUVs and a handful of vans.
Once they had reached those, he'd jerk open a door and gesture for her to get in. "We're not quite done yet, but you're safer here than outside." And really, all there was for his group to do now was wait for everyone to be clear before they blew the place.
