X-Men Team 3: Polaris/Reaver
Lorna would have preferred to have been paired up with almost anyone, but she understood Alex's need to have her take Reaver as her teammate. Ever since Laura had been taken, Wolverine had been on edge, and his son Karr only compounded the situation by not knowing when to freaking shut up. After fielding all sorts of crass come ons from him all the way here, she might wrap a sheet of metal around his fool mouth before this mission was over yet. She remembered the look on Alex's face when she walked up to him and asked point blank, "Can I kill him?" After joking about friendly firing his furry ass to kingdom come, Lorna was in a better headspace to deal with the little feral while Alex kept Logan away from him.
She felt ready for this. Lorna was wearing her throwing knives, six of them on an ankle holster just inside her boot and others hidden on her person, which she had fully trained to use with or without powers. The X-men had been training on alternative combat methods for some time, but the intensity of that training had been raised once Wisdom's intel gathering team confirmed that by now those Sentinel made power suppressing darts were available in the black market to anyone with enough cash. They couldn't afford to bank on their powers when at any point they might lose them. Their latest uniforms had been thickened accordingly, and the patented fabric made of unstable molecules was as good as Kevlar already. Now they wore like a thick rubber wetsuit but with better mobility. The standard issue darts now had a better chance of working if they managed to hit exposed skin, or somewhere along the stress areas of the joints, where the uniforms were thinner.
"Polaris here," Lorna reported in on her comm. "We're at the north gate. I don't see anything back here. Should we breach?" She closed the mike and asked Karr, "You smell anything, anyone?"
