No Longer So Certain Who: Storm OT Wisdom When: Afternoon Oct 2 Where: Wisdom's Room What: Now it's Storm's turn to be somewhat vulnerable and out of sorts.
The news had undoubtedly gotten around: Storm had stepped down from her position as the leader of the X-men. It was a logical decision. That was one small comfort to Storm; however, there was still some part of her wondering if she had simply taken the easy way out in order to avoid having to truly fight a real battle. She had been responsible for that team since Xavier put it together. In truth, it was her baby. Yet she had stepped away from it with no attempt to fight for it.
Yes, Alex was better qualified to lead a combat team. Yes, Alex was interested enough in team tactics to really make things happen and hopefully form them into a better team. Still she had to wonder if she could have pulled off what was necessary without letting it go so quickly or easily. Yet the choice was made. There was no taking it back. No matter what misgivings she might have had.
Her movements throughout the Haven were still as they had been. She moved through the atrium, tended the grounds outside, went swimming, and attended exercises as scheduled. However, there was something pale about those movements now. Further emotionally detached than she had even shown before. Why? The inner conflict was distracting her, making her less attentive.
Still giving up leadership had also taken away a burden. More than one actually. She no longer had to figure out if her decisions were going to cost someone their life. She was no longer the one responsible for that. It also removed her personal life from being an issue. While there were few who would dare to bring up her relationship with Wisdom in a negative life, even during her tenure, there was the simple fact that both of them being in positions of authority made things a little more awkward. So on both a personal and a professional level, she had given up the pressure.
So why was she still so unsure about this choice? Storm found herself standing outside of Wisdom's door looking at the door itself as though she'd never truly seen it. What was she going to say? He knew by now, intelligence gathering being his forte. Still she knocked on the door. Whatever they were going to talk about would come.
