Logan could almost hear the wheels turning in Laura's head as she weighed his words and studied him. Cautious, somewhat suspicious, perhaps even a bit calculating? None of those were convincing Logan that she wasn't his kid, if he were to be honest. So, what could he say now? He wasn't exactly a Chatty Cathy, nothing could be further from the truth. She'd know something was up the moment she saw his claws, but he really saw no good way to broach the subject except to get to work and let her ask the questions she wanted to ask afterwards. Maybe she had no interest at all in finding out who her daddy was or whatever, or maybe she was indeed a niece however many times removed and it would only cause her distress to question her origins. Logan couldn't see one good thing to come out of him blurting out something he had no proof of other than what his nose was telling him. He twisted his neck this way and that, cracking it to relieve the tension he was carrying there.
"Good, 'cuz I'm the closest thing we got to a drill sergeant on this team," he replied. He'd be the judge of whether she could fight or not. "Yeah, we'll be fighting here all right. Everything yer about to see is real enough to hurt. You'll understand soon enough. Once the program starts, we act as a team. Ya ready?" With that, he made a split second decision and, instead of starting the program right away, he spread his arms some and popped his claws. The words 'resume program' hung from the tip of his tongue, but he'd give Laura a chance to react to the claws before he said anything.
