"Charles was always so cautious," Erik sighed softly. It was sad to see one so troubled by their gifts. Perhaps in time he would come to accept them as the blessing they were, but Erik could understand the roadblock that having such a dramatic change in form and appearance could present. A little risk might accomplish so very much, and Erik was more than willing to risk it, if Nik was.
He watched the machine flick off and the dark fur appear once more. He nodded as he studied him thoughtfully a moment. Was it best to do it here? Perhaps not, but it did not seem as if Nik were making any signs of stalling proceedings much. "My power is to create magnetic fields," Erik began his explanation. "Usually I do this to manipulate metals, but perhaps I can trigger something, if I introduce a strong enough field around your form. I am sure such a field will short out your inducer, however," he added, glancing to the device. "I am willing to try whenever and wherever you are." It was Nik who was taking the real risk, after all. The worst Erik would face was a spell of exhaustion.
