Frederick couldn't suppress a tiny knowing grin when he noticed Bryan trying not to stare. People had stared, or tried not to do so, at Frederick for most of his life, for all manner of reasons. Lately, it was his distinctive coloring that called attention to him, but even before he was a mutant, some people stared when they recognized him from his adult entertainment days, or from being the son of a billionaire. In any case, if there was something hustlers became adept at, it was reading people and their non-verbal cues, and the way Bryan couldn't meet his eyes was very amusing to him.
An advantage of having no pupils was that it made it very hard for people to notice if you were checking them out. Frederick took full advantage of that, sizing up the other man with impunity as they talked cars. "I know, the greedy bastards. I did go for all the fun extras, though, including the cruise control," he added with a pleased shrug. "Figured I might as well. My family wanted me dead, so it's only fair that I splurged in this baby. After all, I bought it with their money."
"What about you? What are you in for?" he said jokingly.
