Who: Blindfold OT Polaris When: Evening Thursday Where: Their Shared Room What: Ruth is recovering and spending some time with her roommate, which is about as much human contact as she can stand about now.
The Excalibur Team had brought Ruth home nearly two weeks ago. Over the past two weeks, Ruth had been out of her room for a grand total of about 7 hours. Nearly all of that was in order to do things like use the bathroom either for washing or just the toilet. It wasn't so much a choice as she didn't feel safe in a room without a closed door. Being in the rec room made her almost shaky. It was weird.
Ruth had been raised in the Quarter, most of the Quarter was fairly open. Now she could only imagine what it would be like trying to keep up the stall in Jackson Square when she was constantly looking for a wall to curl up next to. It didn't stop her from being able to interact, she just didn't like the door sitting open. The sound carrying into the room made her nervous.
Now she sat at the edge of her bed, one hand holding her hairbrush in an awkward way, as if her wrist had been broken. Ruth had stopped in mid-motion of brushing her hair, trying to tame the mass of darkness currently misbehaving all over the top of her hair. She hadn't even managed to get dressed despite the fact that it was evening. The girl was still wearing her pajamas, which had multi-colored jellybeans. There was a half-eaten bowl of soup on the dresser. She'd managed to go down and get it from the kitchen without having a panic attack, but she hadn't tried to stay down there and hold a conversation.
She really just wasn't ready. Maybe soon, but for right now, not yet.
