Ric listened and had to suppress a chuckle. The words were kind, heartfelt and... odd. Charmingly odd. That odd that was so uniquely Shatterstar. Ric loved it and wanted to celebrate it, but he knew doing so would insult the warrior, so he restrained himself. He nodded and leaned back far enough to peer up at the taller man. He wet his lips quickly before speaking again, keeping his arms wrapped around Star's middle.
"I'm sorry I... when I get that way, I just kind of go crazy. I'm sorry, man. I didn't mean it and you didn't deserve it." Ric peered up at him, somewhat at a loss for what to say. Sure, he could ramble on with his apologies a bit longer, and he would if it seemed that Star wanted to hear it, but Star was rarely a man of words. He was far more focused on expressing things physically, but given how big of a heel Ric was feeling like, he did not want to dive right into that right away. Damn, he thought, he had sure made a mess of this.
"...For what it's worth," he added quietly, eyes ducking in an embarrassed way. "I'd much rather have no family than the one I got saddled with." Quite possibly the lamest apology ever, but Ric did mean it, and only hoped it would help somehow.
