Re: Excalibur: status reports
Jamie's eyes were rolling between Wisdom's commentary and Kitty's snark over the intercom. "Oh, great, we're just swimming in comedians, aren't we?" Really, how dare they? Cracking jokes with morbid timing was his thing! Truthfully, Jamie was just happy to see Wisdom, far more happy than he was going to let on. After seeing the condition Ruth was in, he was holding himself together quite well... or so he thought. Once again he was close to bursting at the seams, but was somehow resisting. He suddenly had both a new respect for and a better understanding of Wisdom. No wonder the man smoked like a chimney, drank like a fish and fucked like a bunny, if this kind of thing did not phase, him, what more had he experienced?
"Let's get her into one of our vehicles," Jamie said with a firm, clipped tone. "Yeah," the dupe assisting in carrying Blindfold spoke up. "She's kind of heavy." Jamie closed his eyes and tried to count to ten as he literally growled out the words "Shut. Up."
"Whaat?" The dupe half whined, half pouted. "I was making a funny!"
It was just at that moment that the third dupe went sprinting past them, grinning and laughing like a loon. Jamie and his dupe exchanged glances before a loud explosion shook the area. Craning their necks around, the mad laughter and quick movement of the other dupe became obvious. The MLF van had been rigged to floor it, having hopped a guard rail, flown off an overpass and gone nose-first into some sort of factory, resulting in a great fireball.
The dupe helping carry Ruth looked at Jamie again, grinning ear to ear.
"See? FUNNY!"
"God help me," Prime muttered to himself as he tried to hurry Ruth along.
