Soon, Wisdom pushed off and started walking towards the stack of printouts he had been working on, shaking himself and taking deep breaths. A moment later, he was muttering to himself.
"Ohh, no. No randy thoughts, old son. Don't even think about it. It would be so wrong on so many levels." Wisdom wore a guilty, vaguely horrified expression on his face. Friend, lad. He's a friend. We want him to remain a friend. And... no. Just... no. Besides, that man is the marrying kind. That would truly never work out. The mere idea is... laughable.
Yeah, he was trying hard to convince himself not to mess around with Jamie, and the truth was, no matter how good it could be with any given guy, at the end of the day Pete would rather be with a woman. That was really what it boiled down to. He would never allow himself to dally with a guy who could potentially grow a little too attached. He didn't think Jamie was gay per se. He just knew the man's nature was to get attached. That was fine if they were just friends, but add sex to that equation and things could get way too messy.
But if that was so clear in his mind, why was he still thinking about it? And why spend so much energy finding reasons to deny himself the possibility? Wisdom groaned out loud. He stopped and glared down at his own crotch for a long moment. He scowled. "You are just a shameless, gluttonous monster, aren't you?"
After that, and much grumbling about bloody this and buggery that, he got back to work.
