"Uh huh," Jamie offered with a dry smirk, scenes from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas playing through his head. Hey, little green paint and old Wisdom just might be perfect for the part. The comments did make Jamie think a bit, however. Wisdom did not seem the kind to keep friends, much less admit to them. Granted, what Jamie was already learning about the spy business, he could rather see why. He could not help but wonder what kind of person Wisdom gladly called a friend. "Friend, or an old lay?" He tried to tease lightly as he smoothed down his shirt again, it still felt wrinkled under his hands.
He nodded, seeming relieved at being told not to worry. He was trying not to, really, but mutations were new to them all, and sometimes little things about them surprised you. His face grew quite serious at the mention of a write-up, but Jamie reacted with his usual good nature at the resulting comment. "Yeah, sure, like you've never been guilty before," he snapped right back.
The grin never left his face, even as a bit of weariness began to enter his eyes. "I'd offer to share a drink with you, but... I think I really should be done," he announced. Really he should have been done two glasses back, but that was a whole other story for a whole other time. "I should probably try and sleep. You'll tell me if you hear from John, right?" He had no idea the mess that would be waiting for him in his room, ignorance really really was bliss.
