"You started it, didn't you?" Logan realized even as he said it, once he considered Karr's words. "You fucking moron," he blurted out. "Get yerself killed, why dontcha?" he grumbled darkly, nostrils flaring from the effort to contain his fury. But, if Karr had started it... and he was claiming the right of the kill for himself... Even if Logan was never going to allow that to happen, he realized that if he went and beat up or killed this Nik guy, he would be trampling all over Karr's manhood. Damn the boy for bringing it up, even if it was in his usual knuckleheaded way. Yeah, Karr was his kid, and every instinct told him to find his attacker and end the threat, but if he did this now, all the trust he had building with his obstinate son would be compromised. He knew how frail Karr's ego was, how much he was constantly trying to prove himself a man before his peers, and now before his father, Logan.
The damn brat probably didn't even realize that he'd done it, but he had pretty much tied Logan's hands. He wasn't going to risk the frail, fledgling father/son relationship building between them. Oh, Logan was going to have words with his boy, as soon as he was strong enough to get out of the infirmary.
Logan's eyes rolled momentarily back into his head with rage when he saw his fool boy making inappropriate passes at poor, long-suffering Faith. His hand darted out like a snake, with the intention of latching on to Karr's wrist and pinching the nerve there that would force him to release Faith. "Let go of the nice young lady who just saved yer sorry ass, boy," he growled in a tone that broached no argument. He was quite aware that Ororo had gone ahead of him, without him even. He didn't need an unnecessary brangle with his field leader because his idjit son couldn't keep it in his pants even when he was at death's door.
