"Yeah, would probably suck. Even if it would be a useful power." Hey, when your coffee cup was empty it seemed like a really useful power. She noted the way his expression had shifted, but didn't comment on it. Most mutants, herself included, had no reason to like the government. She just refused to be upset by it, and made fun of the entire situation.
"Eh, they work pretty well. Seem to be useful most of the time." Shard liked her powers. It hadn't always been that way, but these days she was proud to be a mutant.
When he closed his eyes for a second, though, she grimaced. "Sorry, did I hit a nerve? Didn't meant to. And I'm sure he's rich. Knew that as soon as I pulled up to the gate." She figured there might have been an accident or something at some point, the way he was reacting, so that line of conversation was one she'd let drop as they walked down the hall.
