Frederick's blush deepened and spread all over his face, up to his ears and down to his neck. He sensed where the gist of the conversation was leading, and he wasn't touching that with a ten foot pole. Another reason he so readily talked about his five minute career in porn and other so-called shocking subjects was because they were excellent distractions from anything regarding his family or any real feelings he might have at any point in time.
"Yeah, let's," he offered neutrally, giving Jamie a tight lipped smile and a pat on the back. He didn't miss the wince, and he reached around Jamie to push the door open the rest of the way for him, feeling guilt gnawing at the pit of his stomach. He hated feeling guilty. It twisted up his insides and now he probably wasn't going to be able to eat all day.
But that wasn't important right now. His friend was hurt. Frederick had a long laundry list of defects, but the man had a good heart. He cared, and he often went out of his way to be nurturing to people in need. Of course that meant he would probably go on to fuss over Jamie the rest of the day like an overzealous mother hen.
"Excuse us," he called out into the infirmary area to whomever was there as they made their way in. "This man needs medical assistance," he went on urgently, all but carrying Jamie inside. "He was just hit by a car!"
Yeahhh... This could be the rebirth of a beautiful friendship, he thought. No telling whether Madrox would agree.
