Re: Continued from above
Rictor had no time to react, he was just trying to get to that damn guard. He wished he was faster, if Star had been where he was, he would have stopped it. That was what was going through his mind before a flash of white light came at him. That... that wasn't supposed to happen, was it? His heart froze for a long moment as light and heat came towards him. He did not even have the time or mind to shout some sort of sarcastic quip or obscenity.
Both his hands were outstretched, and the white hot energy wrapped around his hands as the silhouetted figure of the guard before him simply... vanished. Oh. This was bad. Ric attempted to throw on the breaks, throwing one arm up in an attempt to shield his face. His legs skidded out from under him, he hitting the ground and slamming his skull hard against the floor in the process. It was all so fast and yet so terribly slow, he was in a state of numbed confusion for what felt like a never ending second.
The next moment, things sped up again, and with them came the pain. His hands, arms and face were pulsing, radiating with a scorching heat. He was frozen for a moment before a rough, hoarse cry of pain left him. The scent of burned skin and hair came at him next. He stared wide-eyed at his hands as his limbs started shaking. Oh, this was bad. This was very bad. Second degree burns covered his hands and well up both forearms. The upper half of his face was burned, though not nearly so badly. Throwing his arm up had shielded the lower half of his face, but he could kiss his eyebrows and the ends of his hair good bye. His heart pounded with a paralyzing kind of terror. This was not supposed to happen! Oh shit! Pain flashed in waves, coming and going as the nerve receptors tried to keep up with the signals they were being given. I need a doctor! he thought, but could not seem to get it together enough to voice this. Oh shit. Oh shit shit shit shit shit.
