Re: Continued from above
Lorna didn't see anything until it was too late. Match and Iceman had apparently seen nothing either as they passed her by, so by the time she reacted to Ric's yell she had already been stabbed. She cried out and fell to the ground, instinctively scrambling away from the guard. Whether she fell due to her injury or Rictor's powers she had no idea. No simulation prepared you for actually getting wounded in the field. No simulation taught you just how much it hurt either. At first she only felt the impact, and she thought she'd gotten punched in the leg, on her outer thigh. But then the stinging sensation began, and the wetness of blood running down her leg. She was in too much shock to feel much else after that. Adrenalin was pumping through her veins, urging her to get to safety. She screamed, a sharp, shrill sound, when a blast of heat and concussive force vaporized her attacker. She only saw it out of the corner of her eye, and was far enough away that her uniform protected her from the worst of it.
She felt sick. While aware of people talking around her, she could not make out the words. Her main concern was that her concentration had been shattered, which meant that doors might be unlocked, and any conscious, unsecured cops might be currently reaching for their weapons. When Alex got to her, she could only stare up at him with huge, scared eyes. "The doors... the guns... I... let go..."
