When he pulled back, her eyes followed him. Definitely still worried, but willing to give him time to process all of this. Even to back out. It was a horrible thing she was asking of him, and for a moment a spike of guilt twisted her stomach. He couldn't even look her in the eyes.
The words...they were unexpected. Of course, Kira had gathered that he was involved in something he couldn't or wouldn't talk about. The woman had just never expected it to be something like this. MI6...that brought a furrowing of her brow, as she tried to place the familiar term. Finally coming up with a meaning as she shot him a genuinely surprised look. "Like...British secret agents? James Bond and stuff? Shit, Pete, you were a spy?" It wasn't anger, but almost an excited glee. She'd known a real life spy all this time and never knew? Sucked that she had to find out with such an incredibly short time to live, but there you have it.
Of course, there wasn't a lot of time to dwell on such a thing. He was moving back into more serious subjects, and she had no choice but to go with him. Almost afraid to ask what he was thinking, as he started to offer...something.
It took her several long moments to answer that last question, and finally she nodded, swallowing hard. "I don't want to die, but...if I don't have a choice, it's better this way." Trying to convince herself as much as him, at least a bit. Kira was still studying his face, and after a moment reached out to snag his hand in hers, if he'd allow it. "Pete, you don't have to do this. I don't want you to live the rest of your life with...this in your head. I can ask Cable or Warpath. I'm sure either of them would." The pain that was all but radiating off him was making her think this wasn't such a good idea. "I don't want you to blame yourself." That was spoken even more quietly, as she squeezed his hand. Giving him one last chance to back out of it.
