I hope this works...
Storm hadn't so much been ordered to look into the information the Professor received as much as she accepted it as something she needed to do. It would help her keep her mind off other things, like the mystery man who brought the cure and the strange figure in Mya's drawings. It was nearly impossible to miss him. He was always there, a hulking shadow full of something she couldn't quite name. If she were superstitious, she would have called him the shadow of death.
Yet she'd taken the plane out with little assistance to California, careful to keep it from becoming an airspace issue. Storm had to admit the plane handled like a dream. Absolutely beautifully.
She had arrived in Hollywood and the next step was to pick up a car. They had a sort of time table for when things would occur, or so the Professor had given her.
The drive through Hollywood was decent. It wasn't the first time Storm had been on the West Coast, but this was the first time she was somewhat in a hurry about it. The Hollywood mall was a monolith, rising up. The night was starting to fall. Now they needed to find this mess. Find it and stop it.
That was when Luck decided to take a moment and smile on the lot of them. She heard what she would have described as a mob, all running. Unless it was some kind of designer sale, she couldn't imagine enough people running around to make that kind of noise.
"Come on," she said to her companion as she slipped out of the car and went in the direction of the sound.
She arrived just in time for Jubilee to start accidentally burning people. She couldn't see that, but she heard the roar of unhappiness passed backward through the group moving like a wave. They were going to have to do something about that mob getting any closer. The girl was in danger and that danger only got deeper by the moment.
Storm's first reaction was to pull up a wall of air between Jubilee and her attackers. It wouldn't stop someone truly determined, but it would make it impossible to throw something through it accurately.
