Who: Match OTA What: Angry Fiery Man beating up robots. When: Friday Night Where: The Danger Room Warnings: Violence, probably language.
The Danger Room was pretty warm. Warmer than the weather had been outside that day. It only took one look inside to see why. Match was down in the Danger Room in full Acolyte uniform. He was in the middle of a training routine against the automated systems. Jets of flames were shot at the targets that popped up while the fiery mutant took on the robots with martial arts moves that might surprise some people to learn he knew. He didn't advertise his non-mutant power based fighting ability much. Pretty much just his team's leader and the people he sparred with knew it. The flaming man wasn't trying to hide it or anything, he just saw no need to go around bragging about it.
With a near growl, Match struck a punch at one of his robotic opponents. Not waiting for it to recover, Match spun around and landed a kick on the machine's chest plate and knocked it right down. As soon as he was back on two feet, Match tossed fireballs at the nearest targets but only managed to strike one. Just watching, it would be clear that Match wasn't in a good mood. His body language showed a bit more anger than it normally would. And the increased heat the the room was certainly a good indication of Ben's emotional state.
He had seen the news. About the proposed law related to the Cure being made mandatory. It was a wonder that Ben had managed to only set himself aflame and not incinerate the entire room when he heard that news report. He'd spent weeks stressing himself out trying to decide if he was going to take those injections or not and had finally decided to not take them. It wasn't worth it and a friend convinced him he didn't have to worry about lack of physical contact. In Ben's mind there was no way he was going to tolerate anyone trying to tell him had had to start taking a drug that could probably kill him. His experience with the Repression Serum had been bad enough. And with all the talk and rumors of the Cure just being something that made everything worse, Ben was more certain than ever that he would never take that so-called Cure.
And as much as parts of him wanted to go out and physically do something about it all, the more rational side of his mind prevailed. He would wait and trust that the leaders of the Haven would take care of things their way. It was difficult but it was what the fiery man had decided on. It was only after hearing a loud-mouthed pundit going on and on about how it was all a mutant plot that Ben felt control of his temper slipping. So he went and got suited and up went down to the Danger Room.
With a grunt, Match got knocked down by one of the robots. He popped back to his feet and countered with a blast of flames. For a moment it looked like he was levitating...because he was...but he lowered back down to his feet as the program ended. Wiping the side of his mouth, the fiery man looked up at the control booth with glowing eyes and considered starting the program over.
