-Closing this up-
Storm drove as fast as she could get away with without alerting the local authorities. The last thing they needed was to get pulled over for speeding and waste precious minutes dealing with a local leo while Ghost laid on the ground bleeding for all the world to see.
The local police were only just then truly arriving on the scene when Maya went racing over to Ghost. For that she was thankful, watching the blue lights approach. Whatever the normal folks told the cops, she didn't truly care, all she wanted was to get Ghost collected and out of the limelight. He had suffered enough already.
As much as she knew moving him immediately was a bad idea, waiting around was a worse one. One could only lie so much before people started to realize you were lying. Ororo knew that from experience. So the fewer questions they had to answer, the better.
She helped Faith get Ghost into the back of the car, keeping an eye on those moving around. There was a man talking to the cops, she could see him from a distance and he was pointing at them. "Time to go," she murmured to herself. "I'll try to keep it as steady as I can." Then she shut the door behind Faith who was in the back with the still unconscious Ghost.
Suddenly, a storm cloud opened over the plaza and started to drench the crowd. People were running in different directions trying to get under shelter. Storm could only hope in the minor confusion, someone would give out misinformation and they would manage to get out of this without a problem.
