Justice There was nothing worse than feeling helpless and not understanding something. Like being the slow one in the class full of all knowing geniuses. That was Justice until a good ten minutes prior to her threatening to make heads roll if Karl wasn't allowed in. She wasn't sure if she really wanted him there though after the fact but when he came in and slid up behind her like that something funny went and made her heart thrum, had her sinking backward against his body and she was crying again but silently.
"Sorry about all of that," she managed to whisper, voice hoarse and thick. She then turned to face him, chin tilted back and a very determined expression writ across her face.
"Tell me you don't believe in love at first sight and all that bullshit. Tell me it's all a lie and it don't exist."
Because she hated feeling like it did, like she loved him right then, like maybe that was how Glory and Jack felt and she didn't want to be crazy like them. She wanted to keep her feet on the ground and not get swept up in fake emotions that he didn't mean and she didn't know how to handle.
Karl Karl felt his whole world come crashing down as he slid into that bed and held on to her like his life depended on it. It was then that he realized that if anything ever happened to her then he’d die, just up and give up the ghost. With an arm around her waist and the other crooked under his head he kissed the back of her head. While she silently cried he whispered soothing things, he didn’t even know what he was saying really, they just came out, he wanted her to stop crying and be ok. He’d give anything in that moment to take away any pain she might have. This was something Karl had ever felt before.
As she wriggled he loosened his grip, she turned to face him and he brushed the hair from her face. Shaking his head, “Hey don’t say that, you got nothing to be sorry for babes.” And he meant it, he didn’t want her to be sorry.
Her next question made him smile, that smile he only gave to her. Leaning in he kissed her forehead before wrapping his arm around her again and holding her close. Looking down at her Karl whispered, “I don’t think love at first sight exists, I think it a bunch of bullshit made up by people who ain’t never found anybody to have in their lives.” Smiling he shrugged, “But I do think love exists, just got build up between two people.” Like it had between them, but he didn’t want to say it and scare her off.
