Kate hadn't really been settled in to her own place, so when she found out that Ben was gone and Bev was alone in her townhouse, it had made entirely too much sense to offer to stay with her. She knew that it had to be hard for Bev, losing someone she loved like that, and she didn't want her to go through it alone. Besides, she was becoming pretty good friends with the entire Losers group - to the point where Richie had been joking about some kind of initiation - and it was nice to have a group of friends again. She'd been a little lost lately.
She liked Bev a lot, and not just because she was the only other woman in their little social circle. Bev was strong and tough and had clearly been through some shit but had come out the other side. Kate could respect that. They'd gotten close in their self-defense lessons, and Kate really thought of her as a friend. It was nice. She missed Rachel and Illyana and so many of the others back home. She loved all the others in the little group here, but Bev had a special place in her heart.
Moving was a lot easier than it had ever been in the past. It wasn't like she had a lot of things, after all. Just a quick trip from the apartment she'd been in to Bev's place and it was done. Almost anticlimactic. But honestly, that was better than exhausting herself with a move.
She looked over at Bev, studying her for a moment. "So," she said, "how are you holding up?"
