Laurel knew which gym Diego had been talking about. After all, it was in the Desert Bowling Alley and Arcade Fun Complex, and she'd been there more than a few times since she'd shown up in Night Vale. She fondly remembered the bar fight - did it count as a bar fight if it wasn't really strictly a bar, or not just a bar anyway - she had gotten into with Leonard. That had been surprisingly fun, for all that it had started with sexual harassment.
She wasn't sure what to think about Diego. Whatever Felicity had implied, or not really implied, she wasn't looking for anything. Sure, Diego was objectively attractive, but she'd pretty much given up on relationships since Tommy died. She had loved two men in her life and she'd been burned in very different ways. Maybe one day she'd be in a place where she could try again, but she just didn't feel like she was there yet. Maybe if she had met Ted at a different point in her life, but...no. She wasn't looking for anything close to that.
Still, she definitely understood what it was like to want to blow off a little steam and she didn't mind helping out with that. Stepping into the gym area of the Desert Flower, she shed the jacket of her Canary suit, leaving her in the sleeveless undershirt and her gloves. It was better that way for sparring. She had, obviously, left the mask at home. Now she just had to wait for her sparring partner to show up. Figuring it couldn't hurt to warm up a little, she made her way over to the side of the room where there was a salmon ladder, grabbing the bar to it and hooking it into the lowest rungs. Gripping it tightly, she took a breath then pushed herself up to the next rung. She continued this way until she reached the top, pausing and hanging there for a moment before realizing that her company had arrived while she was busy. Jumping down, she pushed her hair out of her face and gave Diego a small smile.
"Sorry about that," she said. "I was getting bored standing around."
