teddy + booster.
They really only had Skeets to keep them on track now but Michael was pretty sure the miniature AI could make them both regret their decisions. Skeets might not physically harm them but he was connected to the wifi and probably recorded everything they did. He could embarrass them pretty badly. He offered Ted a suggestive wink when his friend called him easy before letting out a laugh.
He was pretty sure he wasn't giving off jealousy vibes too strong but Ted knew him better than anyone else. He knew all the tells to look for in order to guess Booster's mood even when Booster, himself, didn't want to admit to how he was feeling. Ted knew and Booster should've remembered that before he let himself get too swept away in scanning the room to see who would be stealing his friend's attention for the night.
"I've always thought so and yet, here I am, in another world. Not being kissed." He teased back. Ted was kissable, too, but he didn't know how to work that into the conversation without it coming off weird or desperate. He grinned as the countdown started, making no move to try and brush away Ted toying with his tie or the hand that settled on his shoulder.
"10...9...8..." He cheered with the crowd, feeling giddy and oddly hopeful. "...7...6...5..." He turned his attention from the center of the room back to his best friends, expression soft and slightly valuable. This was it, right? Now or never? If he was going to lay all of his cards on the table there was no time like the present. No better opportunity. They couldn't have anything back home but here maybe they could have something even if it didn't last. Even if everything hurt all the more for it later. It would be worth it. "...4...3...2...1... Happy New Year!" He'd never regretted meeting Ted. He wouldn't regret this either... or he wouldn't have. If that was how things had actually worked out.
