It was probably rude to stare, but Alec couldn't figure this person out. They were a conundrum. All signs pointed to demon, but they were kind of pretty. Gender was up in the air. Teased him. Sharp teeth. It was a damn good thing Alec had a good, stoic deadpan because otherwise he'd be looking pretty dazed.
It reminded him of the first time he'd met Magnus, how thrown off he was that someone like that would notice someone like him. Mollymauk, he called himself, looked like the life of the party and Alec, generally, wasn't even at the party in the first place. But, Alec found, he genuinely enjoyed this type of person.
He felt like he might start to smile. There was definitely a very minute twitch in the corner of his lips, which he took another quick drink to hide. Couldn't go emoting so quickly.
"And how are we going to make it a better time?" he asked, brows lifted curiously. Innocently, even. "Alec Lightwood," he answered, and he nodded his head in a greeting. And in a question.
"Sorry if this is rude, I've just never seen anyone who looks like you before. What... what kind of...?" It was probably really rude to just come out and ask someone what they were. That had to be some kind of faux pas.
