Perhaps it had been a secondary thought at first, throwing his lute over his shoulder as he'd left to attend the mixer, but honestly, Scanlan was starting to get a little antsy. Not to say that there wasn't entertainment or plenty of things to keep a person busy, but Scanlan was Scanlan, and he was very much used to at least being a part of what made things fun and interesting for people. It would just be a few songs, maybe a spell or two, just to drive up the atmosphere, hype people up, maybe encourage a few encounters...
Certainly no one could fault him for that, could they?
