Caleb didn’t mind dogs, but most of his close friends were definitely cat people. Cat and cat adjacent. But Rufus was nice. He was handsome and well behaved and those were absolutely things Caleb could get on board with.
“We call it the Day of Ascension. It is, as you say, a little more of a serious occasion, though there can be some dressing up, I think. It has never been something I have done, but I am here for new experiences if nothing else,” Caleb replied. He remembered the ghosts that had followed them around, he remembered the dead he had seen reanimated. He smiled at the suggestion on the jar, looking at his current work and taking note to find something else. “Perhaps I will see if I can cast them not in the jar and then somehow catch them. This is a good idea, thank you,” he added.
There were some generic pet treats behind the counter, if only because some creatures that wandered in couldn’t really be classified one way or the other. Caleb reached for the box and took out two of the biscuits- Rufus was a big dog, after all - and put them on the counter before he thought about what potions they might have. “We have some for healing potions, and we have one that helps you focus for an hour, very good if you are working on something. I have been writing out some scrolls, but I do not know if the magic will work as it does here, if you would like to borrow one and try it? I have one-” Caleb ducked down behind the counter and then appeared again. “-you may try it at your discretion. If it works then I will start selling them. You should be able to read it out and it forms a shield. Only for a minute but that is sometimes all you need. I do not know if it works the same way as it does here. Let me see what other potions we have though-”
