"I think it is just a rather happy accident. Perhaps this town likes things that are not quite cats and has allowed me to make one. Though I do not think I should consider it such a thing." Caleb wasn't ready for another cat. The cats in the tower didn't count. But this thing was different, and he just didn't want another one. Not yet.
"Kate," Caleb nodded. He'd remember the name this time. He was sure Beau had said when she had had to cancel her date. "I'm sure she is. You don't seem to be the kind to dive into a relationship without the young lady being just right for you."
As for hanging out, Caleb rubbed the back of his neck, looking a little nervous. "Yes, I suppose we could hang out," because he couldn't think of any reason why they couldn't. "I should like to get to know her."
