I expect some philosopher has written on the subject! The finer details do get complicated, even when the magic is easy to perform.
Where are you from, then? It is my elder brother who will be the important one in my family, but I don't mind that. I don't like to think of my fate being fixed. I think that the timeline can change when time travel is involved, and this qualifies. Of course if I should go back and forget everything I wouldn't know any different, but that idea is even more unsettling, like someone stealing away all my memories.
I doubt I shall like the social events much either if they are anything like the last place I was in. I didn't care for the music, or what passed for dancing. You are very welcome to visit and to have any machines that are left, although I ought to mention the obvious - that there is no female relative with me to chaperone or to play hostess. I know that some ladies from the future aren't concerned about that sort of thing, but it would seem impolite not to mention it.
