Molly had been struggling of late. Ever since Alec had rather abruptly disappeared, he'd suddenly had to deal with a whole new slew of emotions. And that was uncomfortable. It wasn't that he'd never engaged with negative emotions, but he tried his best to keep a certain distance from him. It was just easier to avoid that sort of thing. And then he'd let himself open up to someone in a way he usually didn't - far more content with casual flings - only to lose them. And that was...well, honestly it was a bit bullshit. Eros and Kore had been helping a bit, plying him with baked good and platonic affection, and Beau had been getting him shitfaced. But it was still a lot.
And now Caleb was here, bringing with him all sorts of other emotions. There was something off, that much was obvious, but he wasn't sure he wanted to know what. He had a feeling it had to do with his body's former owner, and that was a topic he never really wanted to think about. He'd done his best to ignore that, for better or worse, so the idea of engaging with it now was unpleasant to say the least.
Still, he wanted to see Caleb. He'd missed all of the Nein, but Caleb occupied a particular place in his thoughts. Okay, that wasn't entirely true...there had been several people who had occupied a particular place. But with Caleb there had been an almost something. A not quite. A maybe eventually soon. Because Caleb hadn't been in a place to accept that kind of affection before he'd died, but there's been this idea in the back of his head that one day Caleb might get his head on straight and he would be magnificent. So...yeah. That was an entire thing.
He'd made sure he looked perfect before he went down. Days old eyeliner was wiped away and replaced with fresh makeup because he wasn't about to let himself look less than spectacular. That was the quickest path to having to field questions he didn't want to answer. He wanted to look like what Caleb expected. He wanted to be what Caleb wanted him to be. Or maybe just what Caleb wanted. He was still working that out.
So he knocked on the door, bouncing on his feet with nervous energy and tail flicking like a restless cat, and waited with an anxious sort of anticipation.
