DORIAN
Dorian bit into the vine that was actively constricting his wrist. Things were going from bad to worst and Dorian was having none of it. He needed help but he was too proud to ask anyone for it. He wasn’t sure biting at the vines was going to get him out of this but it was really all he had.
In another universe, he might have some of Tony’s sleek repulsors up his sleeve. But at the moment he was doing the best with what he had
TONY
Tony had been having a weird week, but carnivorous plants starting to attack the Last Resort still managed to surprise him. After checking in with Peter, Tony and Bucky had gone off in different directions looking for people who might need help. With most of the Avengers staying in the Mansion, the group they had left was pretty ragtag. But they were going to do what they could.
That also meant that Tony was back in the full Iron Man suit for the first time since he died in it. But he was trying not to think about it too much, so of course, he was thinking about it constantly.
Tony was momentarily distracted from his momentary distraction by the most beautiful man he'd ever seen chomping down on a giant hydrangea tentacle. Tony just stood there for a beat while his brain tried to make sense of it, which was probably not super helpful.
DORIAN
“Paint a picture” Dorian sneered, tugging against the vines, “it’ll last longer.”
TONY
Tony blinked, shaking his head and coming back to himself. Blasting a repulser at the vines encircling Dorian's wrist (but not at Dorian), Tony fought against the branches as he made his way to Dorian.
"Sorry. I hope you weren't set on eating it raw."
DORIAN
"I wasn't." He'd shake off the shriveled, wriggling vines and move towards Tony. He wouldn't look afraid of the situation they were in, he'd look more like he was sizing Tony up a little bit. . "Hi."
TONY
"Hi." Tony turned off his helmet and looked at the stranger, slightly confused by his general vibe. He seemed almost bored, which was surprising unless he bit plants habitually. Well. He guesses we all bite plants habitually, since humans are omnivores. But like. You know what he means. "I'm Tony."
DORIAN
Dorian would examine his wrists, making sure his cuff-links were still on straight. He'd bite the corner of his lip and step forward, pull a handkerchief from his pocket, and wipe a smudge off Iron Man's chest plate. "I know who you are."
TONY
Tony looked down at Dorian's hand on his armor, shrugging his shoulders slightly .
"People usually do. But they also usually take the opening to introduce themselves, so I keep it up."
DORIAN
"That's for people who need introductions, Anthony." He'd tuck his handkerchief away and cross his arms over chest. "Dorian Gray."
TONY
"Fair enough." Tony felt vaguely chastised. He was pretty sure he hadn't been full-named since he was a child. "Quite a name.""
DORIAN
"And quite a story. I'm sure you've read it."
He'd turn his attention to the walls, a little concerned about what wrath the plants might be planning for what they did to their hydrangeas
"If you want to trip over yourself a bit more, we should probably find somewhere a little less alive to talk."
TONY
"Sweet of you to assume I'm literate." Tony smiled, gesturing behind him. "Things are a little clearer back that way, if you want to try that."
DORIAN
"I like giving people something to hold onto," before he completely tore them down. He'd gesture for Tony to show him the way. It only made sense that he go first, since he had the fire power. Dorian had never gotten to know the Tony from this universe during his lengthy stay in New York City. One was enough.
TONY
"Watch your step. They're really going after the ankles." Tony nodded, turning around and heading once more into the breach. He blasted vines out of the way as they went, leaving small scorch marks on the hallway walls. "You been here long?"
DORIAN
"I've been here since this all started, I'm pretty sure." He'd fall in line behind Tony, putting a hand on the back of the suit to keep close enough that the vines didn't have time to come back from where Stark had blasted them away. "You have too, haven't you?"
TONY
"Yeah, I think I was part of the first batch or so of refugees." Tony paused for a moment, brushing some leafy undergrowth out of the way. "I guess most of the people here probably wouldn't call themselves that, exactly, since nobody actually came here fleeing their home universe. But for me, it beats the alternative.'

"We are a diaspora of sorts all the same. None of us left because we wanted to. We left because we had no choice." Dorian placed a hand on the shoulder of Tony's armor, stepping up beside him and pointing ahead. "We could probably duck in there, it doesn't seem too bad. These plants are miserable."
