That certainly is the most likely explanation. This is entirely different than the 2024 that I visited, and the likelihood that things would change to such a degree in just three years is incredibly low. Besides, the technology is nothing like it was then. And I've found no mention of Sanctuary Districts. Which is something of a relief. They were awful, Garak. Thankfully, while this is another universe, it's also quite different than the Mirror universe. Another relief, to be sure. Not an experience I have any desire to repeat.
Exactly! This is an entirely separate timeline and universe, which means that anything here would presumably have no bearing on our own events. Which is good, considering the number of individuals interacting here. Temporal Investigations would have a field day. It was bad enough the one time we went back to the Enterprise. At least we managed not to change anything. And now I'm thinking about the tribbles again. They were really very cute but an absolute menace. I still can't believe Odo brought it back with him.
Perhaps you're right.
Oh I've missed this Honestly. Just because your taste runs toward dry, droning pieces about loyalty to the state above all else does not mean that my choices in literature are horrid. Not everyone wants to read protracted propaganda. Some of us like to enjoy ourselves. Still, I suppose it couldn't hurt to compare the merits of Cardassian and Earth literature again.
