To the extent that Miller had thought about how the act of offering and negotiating such an offer might go, he had pictured this a longer conversation. He'd figured Ray might want assurances, or a game plan. Or even time to think about it.
He hadn't anticipated a rapid-fire yes, never mind one so imbued with certainty. It left him a little stunned.
Ray often had that effect on Miller, though, so it was par for the course.
"Yeah, no, days... days would be bad. Not as bad as hours, though. Or minutes." Miller shook his head. "I was gonna say you can turn one of the spare rooms into your office... lab... thing. Or use it as a bedroom, if you need your space. I kind of picked a pretty big apartment when I first wound up at the Resort. Feels pretty wasteful to keep it all to myself." Which wasn't even in the top ten reasons why he'd asked Ray to move in, but his brain was still playing catch-up.
