Miller returned the smile. "Yeah? Not too cheesy? Wasn't sure what you'd like, but I figured roses are a safe bet... even if they are purple." When he had selected the flowers, Miller's chief concern had been Ray's taste. The trouble with that, he realized, was that he knew how Ray took his coffee and what pizza toppings he liked. Which side of the bed he preferred to sleep on. Not so much his floral preferences.
There was still so much to learn about being with this man. Miller stroked a thumb over his knuckles, watching Ray's profile in the headlight glow. Still so much they needed to talk about.
Maybe now wasn't the time.
"Speaking of Valentine's gifts... a llama, Ray? A llama?" Miller shook his head, smiling despite the pretend-outrage. "I'm never gonna live that one down, am I?"
