There was a chance that involving an actual Fury in his investigation would scatter all potential witnesses, but Miller pushed past that hesitation. "Wait, hang on. Gotta finish the pizza..." It took all of three bites before he was done and paid up, with compliments to the chef.
(Big Rico had yet to respond to such overt flattery, but Miller was optimistic that one of these days, there would be a lifelong supply of pizza in it for him, in thanks for being the restaurant's most appreciative customer.)
"From coming here as much as I do, I know there's a guy in a suit who comes in every afternoon at exactly quarter past three and sits down in that booth over there." He pointed. "He'll have a cup of coffee and two orders of garlic bread. No pizza. Sounds suspicious, right?" Other customers were just as fishy. He told Megaera about each one in turn, but in the end led her outside. "I'm not a cop so I can't actually make people talk to me. I'll have to finesse my way into a conversation. But I can do that later. This is where my client last saw her shadow." He showed Megaera the spot on the sidewalk, right outside the pizzeria. "Other than a colony of ants, I didn't get much. You?"
