Adam & Steph
Oh god, had he just said "human"? Adam's eyes widened a little as he realized he may have been a little too honest and may have been toeing the line between what was fine to talk about to a normal person and what wasn't. Luckily for him, however, Steph seemed to be just as awkward. He let out a laugh as his eyes wandered from his date to try and find the nearest window. "I'm not sure if I'm disappointed that I didn't think of that or not. Could you imagine if we'd tried to go out the same window?"
He was feeling a little more comfortable with her own admission. Maybe this wasn't a huge mistake after all. Maybe he could actually have a conversation with her. He turned his attention back to Steph and smiled. "It's nice to meet you here instead of at the window." And he was so glad she'd dressed kind of casually. He was afraid he'd look too casual next to whoever his date was but Adam was resisting the idea of a suit or anything he wouldn't feel comfortable in. He was awkward enough without adding anxiety about clothing to the mix.
"I like your outfit." And it was kind of cute the way her shorts and drink sort of matched. He didn't have a color scheme himself but he appreciated hers.
He wasn't sure what to do once introductions were out of the way. He supposed it wasn't too late for them to race each other to the window but he didn't really want to escape anymore. She seemed nice so far. He could try small talk before letting his social anxiety skyrocket again. "I know Night Vale is weird and bringing people in from all over the place. So... where are you from?"
