Re: Adam & Steph
Steph wasn't exactly sure why she'd come. Okay, that was a lie. She'd come because she was bored and kind of lonely and she needed something to occupy her evening. Babs was great, but she still missed her Babs. And Kara. And Cass. And the other friends she'd had back home. Night Vale was...okay, it wasn't exactly nice. It was weird. But it was interesting. She just didn't feel like she fit. Which was fine. It was. But the end result was her standing at a party in a club, holding a purple mocktail and a lock and feeling really out of place.
She'd always been kind of socially awkward. Being "killed" and then hiding away hadn't changed that. And being Batgirl hadn't exactly helped. Sure it had made her more confident and sure of herself, but it didn't really help with the way she absolutely floundered in social situations. She was thinking that maybe she should leave and save her date - was it a date...what did you even call the other half of your lock and key in these things...she'd thought her outfit was cute but was it way too casual and did it show too many scars...and oh god, why was she here - the trouble of dealing with her when he came up and that option was right out the window. Unless she went out a literal, actual window. Okay, maybe not that. She should probably say something. Or at least act like a regular person and not an awkward hot mess.
Well...that was definitely a way to start things off. Luckily for Adam, Steph did great with awkward. In fact, she felt her own anxiety dying down. "You're fine," she said with a laugh, "I was actually contemplating ducking out a window because I realized I'm socially awkward and put myself in this situation, so you're in good company. I'm Stephanie Brown. You can call me Steph."
