Peter & Aphrodite
Aphrodite loved a lot of things - that was more or less her job - but her son was at the top of the list. And by her son, of course, she meant Eros. She loved her other children, too, to varying degrees. Philautia, Mania, Pragma, Agape, Storge, Philia and Ludus were all perfectly good children. And there were others, both mortal and immortal. Aeneas, Beroe, Anteros, Harmonia, Himeros, Phobos, Astynoos, Eryx, Lyros, etc... But when she thought the words "my son," she thought of Eros.
Of all her children, Eros was the most like her. Eros was her first born, he had powers like hers, he looked like her, and from an immortal perspective, he wasn't much younger than she was. He wasn't quite as prone to indulging in petty disputes or slinging mud as she was. But in many ways, he felt like her peer. Which is probably one of the reasons why she didn't find it strange that he had invited her to the opening of his sex club, and set her up on a date with the 19-year-old virgin she'd been flirting with.
"He's always had an eye for these things." She leaned in towards him, placing a hand gently on his upper arm and offering him a smile. "And I've trained him well."
It wasn't often that Aphrodite played around with mortal men, but it also wasn't never. It never lasted, of course. Mortals only live for a short time, and she had Ares waiting at home. But sometimes, it was nice to try something new. Usually, they were princes, kings, and warriors. Sometimes they were the mortal offspring of other immortals. Occasionally, they were just really hot shepherds. But none of them were quite like Peter.
Perhaps it was just that society had advanced by about 2500 years since Aphrodite last walked the other, but she found Peter far more engaging than her previous mortal lovers. The world he came from seemed much closer to her own, full of technology and magic that far exceeded the pontoon bridges and battering rams mortals were fiddling with when she left home. Maybe she'd underestimated humans - or maybe Peter was just better than most.
