To be fair, he'd accepted that fifteen years ago, when James and Lily and Peter were dead and Sirius was in Azkaban as a traitor, Harry gone who even knew where. He'd gone quite abruptly gone from having a family and a support system to being alone. Part of him would never entirely forgive Albus for that. For not ensuring that the truth of Peter's betrayal had been found by making sure that Sirius had a fair trial. At the time, he'd just assumed it had to be true and he'd lived several lonely years before Sirius had come back into his life. Before Harry had come back into his life. And he'd managed to forget much of his loneliness. He still grieved Lily and James. He still felt a bitter disappointment in Peter. But he'd spent years thinking Peter was dead. At least now he'd had his closest friend once again.
In the aftermath of Sirius's death, he'd had to adjust all over again. And it had been harder. The others in the Order had tried their best, but they'd never really understood how isolated he'd felt.
Now he was in a place called Night Vale, twenty-five years in the future, and Sirius was alive again. Not only Sirius, but James as well. And Remus could admit, if only to himself, that he was hesitant to open himself up to that kind of hurt another time. Because there was every chance they'd both disappear one day and he would be alone again. But part of him wanted badly to see Sirius again. So he'd agreed to drinks and catching Sirius up. He knew he'd had to tell him about his death, but he hoped he could hold of on that for at least a bit.
He'd managed to find a bar and gotten then a bottle of whisky - they didn't have firewhiskey so it was the best option - and two glasses, before settling himself in a corner to wait for Sirius's arrival.
