"Expectations exceeded," Ray assured him, looking up and over to Miller. "It's going to take a while to fix up, which gives me plenty to keep busy. I love getting in there with all the engine grease," he told him gladly.
He brought the key to the ignition, holding his breath while he turned it. Predictably, the engine didn't want to turn over the first time, or the second.
"Come on, baby," Ray cooed softly, and gave the dash a little rub before he tried it the third time and it rumbled to life.
