Slowly Kara pushed herself into a sitting position and eased herself closer to the red head, Lily was her name. She remembered now. Tears were still in her eyes as she just leaned on the woman. "I should have been there," she sobbed, "I could have seen the bullet." Which may or may not have been a hopeful exaggeration of her powers, for she could not know since she had never been in a situation where she would need to find out.
"I should have hidden this stupid power better," she said in a sudden change of statements. Her mind was working fast on all the ways she could have saved her parents, but none of them mattered now. Her parents were gone, and somehow she was going to understand and feel better. At the moment that seemed like an outright lie, but she was too busy attacking herself to say something bad to the person trying to comfort her. She was actually appreciative of Lily at the moment.
