Lily had read the paper and put two and two together. At home, she hadn't often bothered with the paper; reading the Prophet was an exercise in separating wheat from chaff and was hardly worth it. Here though, the paper seemed to be more straight forward - and useful.
So she'd seen the article about Kara's parents, and while she wasn't exactly looking for the girl, Lily couldn't exactly walk away when she found her.
Stepping over to where Kara was laying, Lily knelt down beside her, and part of her was glad Harry had been too young to understand when she and James died. The idea of him having to go through this, the knowing and losing of parents, it was unbearable.
"Shh, love," Lily said gently, reaching out a hand to Kara to offer her a hug. It was shoddy comfort, she knew, but it was the most she could offer her just then.
