River frowned, her head twitching a little to either side as if to move into the line of his thoughts to receive them better. His thought patterns were different. Almost ... advanced. Like hers in a way, though not the same.
"Missing," she murmured, reaching out to the air between them, her hand hovering above his head for a moment. "Incomplete but will learn it quickly," she decided. "Library," she insisted.
"Name from birth is what parents call you to dinner," River murmured. "River for me. Simon for Simon. Never nicknames," she reflected. "Always River, always Simon."
She studied him, her brow furrowing. "No parents," she whispered, clamping her hands over her mouth as her eyes widened. The idea of not having parents was horrific, even if her parents hadn't been the best and hadn't listened when Simon tried to save her.
"Biological material only, no one to read you bedtime stories, no stories to read where you were, lost alone for too long." Dropping her hands, she reached out to take one of his. "Library," she repeated, intending to lead him there.
